What is Friends of St. Andrew's

The Friends of St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation is a volunteer group committed to:

• Raising the profile of the
  St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation.
• Empowering low-income at-risk seniors and their caregivers through choices and options that foster a vital life through our volunteer efforts.
• Providing and supporting programs to enhance their quality of life. 

As a Friend, you’ll enjoy working with a great group--they do important work while working to promote and increase socialization between all members of the Friends of St. Andrew’s and residents! The Friends also raise funds through an annual Friends of St. Andrew’s appeal and work on special fundraising projects to benefit our low-income, at-risk seniors.

Our Friends Board is led by Alan E. Brainerd as chair and Barbara Cooper as vice-chair, both of whom are passionate advocates for low-income, at-risk seniors.   Currently the Friends are providing leadership and raising money to fund to programs at our subsidized apartments in Knitting, Music, Computer Training, Gardening, and a dynamic Chimes Choir made up of residents from St. Andrew’s of Jennings.

The Friends also raise money to fund the handicapped accessible bus which transports our low income residents to the doctor, the grocery store, the drug store, and even the movies, on a regular basis.

Gatherings, a new initiative started by Friends Board members Millie Cain and Terry Coleman, invites current Friends members to “spread the word” by inviting others to learn about
St. Andrew’s and the work of the Friends.
