The St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of the St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System, today announced that it is the recent recipient of a $500,000 charitable gift annuity from Harlene and Marvin Wool. A 2003 Ageless-Remarkable St. Louisans honoree, Marvin Wool is a longtime St. Andrew’s board member and generous supporter of the organization, whose most recent gift will be used to create the Harlene and Marvin Wool Legacy Circle.
The gift annuity will be used by St. Andrew’s to support the organization’s overall fund development initiatives, which help St. Andrew’s provide area seniors with housing and supportive services that are designed to promote their independence and quality of life.
“My wife and I have strong feelings for St. Andrew’s because of the aid and help they give to seniors regardless of age and color and, as such, we feel it’s important to lend our support to the organization,” said Marvin Wool.
“We cannot thank the Wools enough for their generosity,” noted Mary Alice Ryan, President and CEO of the St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System. “Through the creation of the Harlene and Marvin Wool Legacy Circle, we are hoping to leverage the Wools’ generosity and leadership to inspire others to contribute to the fund and become part of this growing circle of giving that will ultimately help St. Andrew’s serve the ever-growing population of underprivileged seniors across the St. Louis region.”
In a time when continued cuts in state and federal funding for senior services are leaving more and more older adults without the care they need, charitable contributions are playing an increasingly critical role in helping St. Andrew’s to fill its funding gap.
