The St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation helps provide housing and support services to low-income and at-risk seniors in the St. Louis area, including seniors of retirement communities who have exhausted their financial resources. Each year, the organization serves over 5,000 people and provides more than $1.5 million in charitable care.
This year’s Ageless-Remarkable St. Louisans Gala, held on November 6th at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch, was especially vital to the foundation’s mission due to the live auction matching challenge gift of $50,000 by long-time St. Andrew’s board member Marvin Wool and his wife Harlene. We are happy to report that Ageless Gala attendees met the challenge, helping to fund the foundation with an additional $100,000 to the nearly $265,000 that this year’s gala raised. The gift represented the second significant contribution made by the Wools during 2011. In February, the Wools presented St. Andrew’s with a $500,000 charitable gift annuity which was used to create the Harlene and Marvin Wool Legacy Circle.

It was truly incredible to witness our Ageless attendees opening their hearts on the spot to meet the Wool’s challenge. We thank them and the Wools for coming together to raise a remarkable $100,000 that will help St. Andrew’s continue to serve the ever-growing population of underprivileged seniors in the St. Louis community.”
